The Begining

Adventures From the Roll Top started with this picture.

war in slow motion

Once I had taken this picture I realized I would never be bored again. I have read dio work before, but never thought of taking on the task myself. One of my favorites was Twisted Toy Theater found in the pages of Toyfare Magazine. What better way to spend my time, playing with toys and being a full time synic and comedian. I really enjoy creating these comics. Although writers block sets in more often than not, It's still alot of fun when there done. Below is a sample of each comic, all of these complete dio comics can be found here:

THE PLAN:

this comic was my first, and you can tell that I was inexperienced when I started. I had to take multiple shots of every set so I could get it in proper focus That is until I discovered my camera had a "macro auto focus" setting... sigh. If I only knew then what I know now.

ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE:

Fathers day 2008, when inspiration hits, you just go. This short features one of my custom vehicles I painted, the "SNOW HOG". It's now in the hands of a lucky ebay'er. this scene takes place at the foot of my couch on a white bedsheet. See if you can spot the clever ways I kept the Joes from falling over.

CONQUEST:

Just the idea of this made me laugh. When I was writing "THE PLAN" I wanted to keep the whole "I don't have a vehicle" joke going with Ace and Torpedo by having Wild Bill enter not saying a word but with his pistol aimed (from the hip) at Duke. but of course I was writing it faster than Hasbro could release figs, so when the conquest was released, and since I didn't get to do my Wild Bill cameo, I decided to torture Ace one more time. This was also the comic I introduced the small title.

RATTLER:

Here's the same take on Ace's situation but with a bastard of a cobra pilot.

CHAMELEON:

Do you ever get those days where your particulary insane... just a little insane? this was one of those days. Hasbro decided to kick us all in the face by releasing the bigest turd excesory ever created for a figure, Zartan's "Swamp Skier". It's no where near the size of the original from 1984. It sucks and we all called them on it. This is my only one page comic. I like this, I plan on doing more like it.

THE ORACLE:

This is by far my favorite Idea. I loved the three cobra troopers from "the plan" and wanted to do more with them. I decided to test the waters with this promotional shot that I plastered all over the Joe fan web sites.
They're Back!

This group was scene earlier before the promotion idea in this shot which I took after it was clear I wouldn't be going to Joe con that year. This was also inspiration for the next step.

Once I posted the promo shot I HAD to do the story. I got way too many posts and emails asking when It would be out. I'm still working on it and I will finish is soon. I want to move onto other things... Maybe I'll promote them again... Maybe.

I hope you've enjoy these works. I would like to put them into a book some day but with copywrite law, I highly doubt it will happen. So I'll just keep posting as long as fans keep reading.

yo joe.
